Katherine A. Henderson, age 53 years, of Great Bend, Kansas passed away suddenly on Thursday morning, February 24, 2022 at Bright Place North Care Facility in Topeka, Kansas. Katherine was born on September 19, 1968 at Wichita, Kansas to Frederick L. (Fred) and Mary C. (Johnston) Reno. She lived in Norman, Oklahoma several years and also in Tennessee prior to moving to Great Bend. Katherine graduated from Kingman High School at Kingman, Kansas in 1987, and later attended Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas. She was united in marriage to Lee R. Henderson on February 19, 2011 at Great Bend. Katherine loved hiking, playing basketball, playing the piano and the saxophone, and singing. She was a member of Encounter Church in Great Bend.
Survivors include her husband, Lee R. Henderson of Great Bend, Kansas; one son, John L. Whyatt of Norman, Oklahoma and one daughter, Krissy (and her husband Travis) Schopf of Fort Polk, Louisiana; two grandchildren, Keana Schopf and Emily Schopf; her mother, Mary C. Reno of Larned, Kansas; two sisters: Nita (& Rudi) Lenz of Booton Township, New Jersey and Stacy (& Travis) Hamrick of Larned, Kansas; nieces and nephews. Katherine was preceded in death by her father, Frederick L. (Fred) Reno in 2011.
Cremation has been chosen. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 18, 2022 at Encounter Church, 601 Patton Road in Great Bend, Kansas.
