Harold Herdman, age 82

Harold V. Herdman, 82, McCracken, Kansas, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024, at his home.

Harold was born June 20, 1942, in Hays, Kansas, the son of Charles Oliver and Willetta Maxine (Gordon) Herdman. He was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas. A 1960 graduate of McCracken High School, McCracken, Kansas, he was a mechanic and farmer.

He was a member of the McCracken Methodist Church, McCracken, Kansas.

Harold enjoyed fishing, camping, being at the lake, and his trips to Colorado.

On September 7, 1963, he married Janet S. Lyda at Hope Lutheran Church, Rush Center, Kansas. She preceded him in death December 15, 2019.

Survivors include: two sons, Chad Herdman (Stephanie), Windom, Kansas, and Trenton Herdman (Jana), Rush Center, Kansas; one daughter, Tambra Pfeifer (Todd), Great Bend, Kansas; 11 grandchildren, Justin Herdman, Jeremy Herdman, Joseph Herdman (fiancée, Ryland Aroura), Clayton Herdman (Kacee), Garrison Herdman, Kendrick Herdman, Athena Grotheer (Kaleb), Sierra Pfeifer, Marissa Pfeifer (fiancé, Landon Winkler), Erin Pfeifer, and Johanna Pfeifer (fiancé, T. J. Grieb); one great granddaughter, Sloane Herdman; one brother, Terry Herdman (Carol), Blacksburg, West Virginia; and one sister, Glenda Pfannenstiel (Abe), Hutchinson, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one grandson, Cody Pfeifer; and one brother, Leroy Herdman.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kansas.

Church visitation will be Friday, October 25, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. to 10:50 A.M. at the McCracken Methodist Church, McCracken, Kansas.

Funeral service will be Friday, October 25, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at the McCracken Methodist Church, McCracken, Kansas, with Pastor Norma McNair officiating. Interment will be in the Locust Hill Cemetery, Rush Center, Kansas, Friday, October 25, 2024, at 2:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorials to the McCracken Fire Department, McCracken, Kansas, or the McCracken Historical Museum, McCracken, Kansas.
