
Jerry Castro was promoted to Deputy Warden at Ellsworth Correctional Facility, effective Sunday July 23.
Jerry has leadership in many different areas: security, key control, tool control, communication, teamwork, and accountability of the facility.
He currently serves as on call administrator as assigned by the Warden. Jerry started his career as a COI at ECF in 2005 and was promoted to COII in 2006. In 2008, he was promoted to CSI in what is now the Enforcement, Apprehensions, and Investigations (EAI) Department. Jerry was promoted to CSII (Lieutenant) in 2010 and assigned to EAI and promoted to CSII (Captain) in 2012. In July 2017, he was selected to be the ECF Special Operations Response Team (SORT) Commander. In April 2022, Jerry was selected to serve as Major.
In 2022, Jerry attended Kansas Leadership Class, and the Trainer of Trainers class to facilitate Respectful Workplace and Sexual Harassment class. Jerry has worked with the Security Audit Team at other KDOC Facilities. He is bilingual, speaking both English and in Spanish, and is a US Army Veteran. He achieved his Bachelor of Science in Justice Studies from Fort Hays State University in May 2015.
