At Monday’s Great Bend Recreation Commission Board meeting, Aquatics Director Megan Hammeke joked while the weather has been nice for most people, the staff at the pool would prefer the temperature to be a little higher.
The
Great Bend Wetlands Waterpark has been open for more than two weeks with 44
lifeguards on staff and 10 concession stand workers. Out of those 44
lifeguards, Hammeke said roughly 20 of them are also teaching swim lessons.
"We're following the same swim lesson format that we've always followed," said Hammeke. "We have two lessons in the morning and one at night. Lessons go from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00, 11:00 to 11:30 and 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 Monday through Thursday. There there are three big sessions and the two 'Mommy & Me' sessions at the end of the summer."
Regular hours for the pool are 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. every day of the week.
Family swim hours are 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.
