While participating in ax throwing in the Kansas City area, Sage Cauley and Johan Sanchez wanted to bring the activity to Great Bend. The two launched Hatchet Axtion on Main Street in Great Bend in June 2022.
Now, Cauley said the ax-throwing business has remodeled the building to include a bar and seating for 50 people.
"We got to go through the whole process of planning the layout of the bar, where we were going to put the ax-throwing lanes and what we were even going to do in the bar area," said Cauley. "We even designed a place where we're going to have fun and games in the middle of the room. We'll have cornhole and water pong."

Waiting on the liquor license, Hatchet Axtion will begin serving alcohol soon. Cauley said the bar will offer beer and seltzers.
The business offers ax throwing lanes for up to four people per lane. Customers can throw a hatchet, tomahawk or ax at a target down the 12' lane.
