Great Bend High bowlers dominant at Liberal

The Great Bend High School bowling teams cruised to a pair of wins Tuesday at Liberal. The Lady Panthers had the top-five series and won the team tally by nearly 600 pins. The Panthers boys had six of the top-seven individual scores and won team scoring by more than 300 pins.

On the girls' side, Kaylin Wahlmeier topped out with a 214 in the middle game to roll a 570 series. After a slow start, Aliyah Fryberger bowled a 206 in her final game to place second with a 467 series. Sahara Rziha and Zoey Mayberry finished third and fourth, respectively, at 449 and 438, and Emilee Nelson took the fifth spot with a 407 series. Rionna Rodriguez was the other varsity bowler with a 303 series. Liberal's top bowler shot a 361. Great Bend won team scoring 1,946 to 1,392.

Just two bowlers surpassed 500 pins on the day in boys' action. Great Bend's Kolby Burnham started out hot and survived a comeback bid from Liberal's Lexton Batie to win by just three pins with a 521 series. Burhnam opened with a 205 and rolled a 168 in his second game. Batie finished with a 202.

The Panthers were otherwise dominant. Dylan Ferguson rolled a 189 in his final game to place third with a 489 series. Jalen Daniels finished fourth with a 480, just one pin ahead of Caleb McNett in fifth. Kamron Stude shot a 476 for sixth, and Jordan Manning placed seventh with a 461. Great Bend won team scoring 2,060 pins to 1,727.
