Adolph Hennings Highberg Jr., 76, died March 14, 2023, at Kansas Soldiers Home in Fort Dodge. He was born on December 18, 1946, at Palacios, Texas, the son of Aldolph and Ninette (Simmons) Highberg Sr.
Adolph spent his childhood in Okeechobee, Florida. He graduated from Okeechobee High School. On October 30, 1970, Adolph enlisted in the United States Army, serving in Vietnam from September of 1971 to August of 1972. He then transferred to the Army Reserves. After his honorable discharge in October of 1973, Adolph worked as a machinist for Wal-Mart. He then attended Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. On June 9, 1977, he married Robbie Lou Schaal. In August of 2019, he moved to the Kansas Soldiers Home at Fort Dodge. He enjoyed making people laugh and playing Santa and Mrs. Claus with his wife during the Christmas season.
Adolph is survived by a daughter, Carrie Carl (Larry) of Orange, Texas; son, Adolph Highberg Jr. of Great Bend; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Allen and John Highberg; and two sisters, Lorene and Vivian Highberg. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Robbie; daughter, Victoria “Vicki” Highberg; six grandchildren; and two brothers, Eddy and Nels Highberg.
A private family service will take place at a later date. There is no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to the family in care of Swaim Funeral Chapel. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
