Barton Community College Foundation Executive Director Lindsey Bogner gave an update on the foundation to the Barton Board of Trustees at Tuesday’s meeting. The foundation exists to raise private funds by providing gifts to benefit educational opportunities and initiatives at the college.
Bogner announced the foundation awarded $302,254 in scholarship funds to Barton students in the 2023 fiscal year. The foundation also awarded $522,687 in project and program enhancement grants across all Barton campuses in 2023.
Bogner started training to become the college's foundation director in the fall of 2021. Trustees Chair Mike
Johnson was pleased with how efficient the foundation operates.
"I think it has really worked out well to get a new set of eyes on the foundation," said Johnson. "There wasn't anything wrong before, but the number of new policies, procedures and checks and balances that Lindsey has installed have suited the foundation very well. Things that I never thought of, and things the foundation board never thought of, have been implemented."
Outside of donations, the foundation raises private funds with their employee
giving campaign, sporting clay shoot and their Big Benefit Auction. The 44th
Annual Big Benefit Auction will take place August 26th at the Great
Bend Events Center.
