
Action from the July 6, 2022, Commission meeting:
APPROVAL OF APPROPRIATIONS: -An Accounts Payable Register was approved for the period of June 22, 2022, and ending July 6, 2022.
NEW BUSINESS - COUNTY CLERK’S OFFICE: Request for Approval – Added / Abated / Escaped / Refunded Taxes: -Bev Schmeidler, County Clerk, presented a listing of Added / Abated / Escaped / Refunded Taxes. Orders for these actions are kept on file in the County Clerk’s Office. These are used to correct assessments and are requested by the County Appraiser’s Office or the County Clerk’s Office.
NOXIOUS WEED: RFP – ATV Yamaha Kodiak 700 ESP or Polaris Sportsman 850 Premium or Equivalent: -Darren Williams, County Works Director, presented details. Noxious Weed solicited bids through Vendor Registry for “ATV Yamaha Kodiak 700 ESP or Polaris Sportsman 850 Premium or Equivalent”. The Commission approved the purchase of a Polaris Sportsman XP from Straub’s Powersports for a total of $10,490.00.
HEALTH DEPARTMENT: Electrical Work to Support Data Power to Digital Sign: -Matt Patzner, Operations Director, provided details. In June, 2022, the Commission awarded a bid to Mark’s Custom Signs for new LED digital signage at the Health Department. As that bid did not include electrical work, the Health Department solicited proposals for the “Electrical Work to Support Data Power to Digital Sign”. The Commission accepted the $7,000.00 bid from P & S Electric Inc. Karen Winkelman, Health Director, joined in this presentation. She was late to the Commission meeting as she was helping a citizen that had fallen outside the Courthouse.
It was announced that County officials may meet with Orazem & Scalora Engineering, P.A. and DMA Architects, P.A., as relates to the feasibility study reference the replacement of the existing heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC). At this time, efforts will center on the Fourth Floor of the Courthouse. The meeting begins at 2:00 p.m. in the Commission Chamber, Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main – Room 106, Great Bend, Kansas.
Discussed the fireworks issue and the compromise reached by the Commission in reference to the expanded discharge period. Discussion then moved into emergency call statistics relative to the Independence Day holiday and the County’s radio system.
