The 5th ranked Barton Community College volleyball team returned to conference play this evening in Liberal with a straight set sweep at Seward County Community College (25-11, 25-14, 27-25).

The Cougars were all over the host Saints in the first two sets, but re-energized home squad made things interesting by racing out to a 4-0 lead in the third. Barton battled back to tie it at 7 and eventually take a 12-11 advantage before the Saints' three straight regained the lead. Appearing the match would be headed to a fourth frame, Barton rallied back from not only a 23-18 deficit but would have to fight off a pair of set points in prevailing for the third straight sweep early in the conference season.

Barton improves to 3-0 in KJCCC play and 16-1 overall while Seward County falls to 2-2 and 5-8 on the year.

Next up is Saturday's 6:00 p.m. hosting of Dodge City Community College to set the stage for the reunion and ring presentation ceremony of the men's basketball 2024 National Championship.
