In 2005, Dr. Nels Lindberg bought a veterinary clinic where he was in charge. His whole time prior to that, he looked to others for answers or did what was told of him. Through trial and error and studying other leaders’ concepts, Lindberg learned the leadership side of running a business.
Lindberg
wrote a book, “The Ultimate Guide to Real World Hiring and Firing,” which provides
a guide of lessons he has learned in the trenches of leadership.
"We're tasked with being veterinarians but no one ever taught us how to hire anyone," said Lindberg. "We screw it up. It's one thing I've delved deep into studying. We were never taught to do the hiring process. People need help with it."
Lindberg owns Animal Medical Center (AMC) in Great Bend.
While the book was
recently released, he said most of it was finished two years ago. The release
was delayed when his son underwent a horrific accident. Watching his son
recover and continue to get stronger has inspired other ideas of future
writings.
"With our son's accident, I have people asking about a book on adversity," said Lindberg. "We think, talk and walk that every single day. Sometime in the future, there may be something there as well."
Copies of the book can be purchased at AMC, 622 McKinley Street or online
through Amazon, Kindle and Audible.
