Great Bend police made an arrest last Wednesday after a medical emergency turned into a possible criminal case. On Oct. 22, just after 10:30 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Adams Street in reference to a medical emergency. When officers arrived, they found a 32-year-old female unconscious on the floor in the kitchen area of the residence.

Officers also contacted Joshua Anderson, 36, inside the residence. Great Bend Fire and EMS also responded and transported the female to the University of Kansas Health System - Great Bend Campus for medical treatment. While she was being treated, medical staff became aware that the female was possibly the victim of a sexual assault, and evidence of the crime was collected at the hospital.

Great Bend Police Detectives investigated this incident, and probable cause was established that a sexual assault had occurred. The following evening, Anderson was located in the 1200 block of Jefferson and arrested for rape. Anderson was transported to the Barton County Jail, where he was booked in lieu of bond.

Anyone with information on this crime or any other case is encouraged to contact the Great Bend Police Department at 620-793-4120, the Barton County Crime Stoppers at 620-792-1300 or online at p3tips.com.
