Great Bend Post
Although an officer position still comes open from time to time, the Great Bend Police Department seems to be having a much easier time filling vacancies than in years prior.
At the end of last November, Police Chief Steve Haulmark introduced the Great Bend City Council to the latest hire that made his staff complete.
Haulmark credited the good team morale last November to the recently passed .20% sales tax increase that will bolster first responders' retirement plans and new police station that will be constructed by this August.
With an
officer announcing his resignation since then, Haulmark made another
introduction at Monday’s council meeting to get the department fully staffed
again.
"I wanted to introduce Jordan Keil, newest member of our police department," said Haulmark. "He started last Monday evening. Jordan is born and raised here in Great Bend."
Keil went to school at Barton Community College and Fort Hays State
University. Keil has a degree in biology and has worked summers for the Kansas
Department of Wildlife and Parks.
