Clayton Clyde Stinemetz, 83, passed away December 16, 2023, at Medicalodges of Great Bend. He was born on May 24, 1940, in Garden City, to Raymond and Jeta (Samples) Stinemetz. On March 10, 1962, he married Barbara McCarty in Raton, New Mexico.
A Great Bend resident since 1963, Clayton’s profession was the “Pepsi Man” – working in every area for Pepsi. He was a member of St. John Episcopal Church. Clayton loved baseball, coaching his daughters and grandchildren, spending much of his time at the ball parks, and was an avid Royals fan. He also enjoyed traveling and gambling. Clayton was a “dad” to everyone, and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Barb; five daughters, Cathlyn Zecha of Topeka, Stephanie Nuss of Great Bend, Stacy Schwartz of Great Bend, Starla Stout and husband, Duane, of Hoisington, and Hazel Peterson and husband, Bobby, of Norton; sixteen grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Jason, Nelson Jr., Tyler, Christopher, Joshua, Brett, Mitchell, Farah, Austin, Melissa, Cole, Meaghan, Nicholas, and Jacob; twenty great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Inez Newberry and Jeannine Stinemetz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; a sister; and son-in-law, Danny Schwartz.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from noon to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2023, with family receiving guests from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Jay Welshonse presiding. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorials have been designated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
