
Shane Martin Petirk, 59, passed away December 23, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born on September 24, 1966, in Great Bend, Kansas to James “Jim” Petrik and Linda (Griffin) Hataburda.
A resident of California in Cathedral City and Palm Springs for over 35 years, coming from Las Vegas, Shane worked in the IT sector as a contractor establishing computer systems for restaurants, like IHOP. He was a man who enjoyed the finer things in life – both in style and travel, including trips to the beach to swim or boat and excursions to Catalina Island. Shane loved Christmas, particularly decorating for the holiday, his beloved dogs, and those closest to him.
Survivors include his mother of Stafford; siblings, Bruce Petrik of Stafford, Terry Petrik and wife Sonya of Great Bend, Misty Harter and husband Justin of Stafford, Wendy Carter of Ferndale, Washington, and Jimmy Petrik of Stafford; thirteen nieces and nephews; and two great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his husband, Stephen Powell; and his father.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, with Reverend Adam Wutka presiding. Inurnment will follow at La Crosse Cemetery, in La Crosse, Kansas. Memorials have been designated to the Shane Petrik Expense Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
