Similar to the teams' earlier season meeting in Great Bend, the 20th ranked Barton Community men's soccer team scored twice in second half play for another 2-0 blanking over Coffeyville Community College with the latest coming Saturday evening in Coffeyville.
The victory moves Barton into a tie for second place of the KJCCC at 5-3 and 9-4-1 overall while dropping the Red Ravens to 1-5-1 in league and 2-8-3 on the season.
Barton again will have a short turnaround to conclude its tough four games in a week stretch by taking another long road trip on Monday to Council Bluffs, Iowa, for a 7:30 p.m. kick at 6th ranked Iowa Western Community College and former Cougar Head Coach Mike Brown.
The Cougars will then have a few days rest getting ready for a pivotal KJCC game hosting fellow second place Kansas City Kansas Community College at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
Scoreless through the first 53:10 of action, Hugo Pacheco picked a great time for his first collegiate goal as the sophomore went full horizontal on a diving header putting away Maxence Voinier's cross in what would be the eventual game winner.
Reigning KJCCC Division I Goalkeeper of the Week Emil Ludemann-Ravit improved to 4-1-1, keeping the sheet clean for the club's fifth shutout of the season including making a point-bank save protecting the goal lead with 23:40 remaining.
Just missing on numerous attack opportunities, three minutes later the Cougars were back at it resulting in a cushion goal as Loic Kanku's missile from 20-yards out from beyond the corner of the eighteen pierced the night's air to rattle the net upper-90 far post for the sophomore's sixth of the season.
