The City of Great Bend will contract work out to improve curb, gutters
and sections of sidewalk along 10th Street. The project will include more than
2,000 linear feet of curb and gutter repairs and 125 feet of sidewalk
improvements. The repairs will assist with safety on those sidewalks and curbs,
but also help the aesthetics on 10th, from Kiowa Road to Harrison
Street.
Public Works Director Jason Cauley said there was one qualified bid from
L&M Contractors.
"We had two bids, but one of the bidders did not give us a complete bid," said Cauley. "He left out the storm boxes. We were not able to accept that bid."
The bid will include improvement of two storm boxes and three inlets and caps.
L&M Contractors anticipated starting the project in August. The contractor
has 60 calendar days to complete the work once started.
The city has transferred funds the last two years for curb and gutter improvements
that total $150,000. L&M’s approved bid was $147,425.
