LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Devon Dampier passed for 253 yards and three touchdowns, leading No. 14 Utah to a 31-21 comeback win over Kansas. Elijah Davis added a 97-yard interception return for a score. The Utes, now 10-2, kept their Big 12 championship hopes alive. They need several outcomes to go their way to play for the title. Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels passed for 187 yards and a TD, but also threw three interceptions. Utah's defense capitalized on Kansas' mistakes, securing the win. Kansas ends its season with a 5-7 record, missing bowl eligibility for the second straight year.
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Noah Fifita threw for 286 yards and a touchdown, and Arizona spoiled rival Arizona State’s Big 12 championship game hopes with a dominating 23-7 win. The reigning Big 12 champion Sun Devils entered the most anticipated Territorial Cup game in a decade with a slim chance of reaching the title game again. Arizona squeezed the life out of their chances with a suffocating defense that forced five turnovers and limited Arizona State to 214 total yards. Arizona State quarterback Jeff Sims, making his fourth start for the injured Sam Leavitt, threw three interceptions and lost two fumbles. His botched handoff at Arizona State’s 6 to open the third quarter set up Fifita’s 9-yard touchdown pass to Cameron Barmore.
UNDATED (AP) — The Big 12’s championship game is set. It's Texas Tech vs. BYU. Arizona State’s loss to Arizona on Friday night eliminated both the Sun Devils and Utah, meaning Texas Tech and BYU will play for the conference title no matter what happens in their games Saturday. Elsewhere, Indiana wrapped up a spot in the Big Ten title game, and Texas A&M fell out of contention in the SEC. Meanwhile, six teams are still in contention in the ACC heading into Saturday.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Arch Manning threw a touchdown pass and ran for the clinching score late in the fourth quarter and No. 16 Texas beat No. 3 Texas A&M 27-17 on Friday night to spoil the Aggies’ undefeated season and knock them out of the Southeastern Conference championship game. Manning’s 29-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Wingo in the third quarter gave Texas (9-3, 6-2 SEC, No, 16 CFP) a 13-10 lead. His 35-yard run up the middle on third down with 7:04 left put the Longhorns up 27-17. Texas kept alive any faint hopes of making the College Football Playoff for the third consecutive time. The Aggies (11-1, 7-1, No. 3 CFP) are all but assured their first playoff berth,
ATLANTA (AP) — Nate Frazier ran for 108 yards, Gunner Stockton’s scoring pass to Zachariah Branch was the only touchdown of the game and No. 4 Georgia retained its hold on its state rivalry with another close win by holding off No. 23 Georgia Tech 16-9. The Bulldogs set a record with their eighth straight win in the rivalry. Georgia Tech, which moved its home game from its campus stadium to Mercedes-Benz Stadium, closed the regular season by losing three of four games. Peyton Woodring of Georgia and Aidan Birr of Georgia Tech each kicked three field goals.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Chicago Bears have won their fifth straight game. They used a dominant rushing attack to beat the reeling Philadelphia Eagles 24-15 on Friday. Kyle Monangai rushed for 130 yards and a touchdown, and D’Andre Swift ran for 125 yards and a score for Chicago. Led by rookie coach Ben Johnson, the surprising Bears are alone in first place in the NFC North heading into a showdown at Green Bay next weekend. The Eagles seemingly had the NFC East wrapped up two weeks ago, only to suffer consecutive defeats that have them looking little like a Super Bowl contender.
STAKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin says he feels he like he has to make an announcement about his coaching future by Saturday and says doing so won't be “as enjoyable as people think.” Kiffin, meeting with reporters after Mississippi's 38-19 victory over Mississippi State on Friday, says he hasn't made a decision. Kiffin says he's leaning on mentors Pete Carroll and Nick Saban for advice in making his decision. Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter has asked Kiffin to decide by Saturday so the Rebels would know if they need to look for a new coach before it's too late to attract a preferred candidate.
SAINT THOMAS, Virgin Islands (AP) — It was only recently that LSU head coach Kim Mulkey became aware that her Tigers were close to breaking a 43-year-old NCAA record — even though she had a hand in setting that mark. But, after the fifth-ranked Tigers routed Marist 113-53 on Friday night in the Paradise Jam tournament, Mulkey said that records really didn’t matter to her. LSU (7-0) posted its record seventh consecutive 100-point game to advance to the Reef Division’s championship game, where the Tigers will take on Washington State on Saturday night.
The Kansas City Chiefs have run out of room for error. If they’re going to extend the dynasty and reach the AFC championship game for a ninth straight season to have a shot at winning a fourth Super Bowl title with coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes, they might need to win their last five games — and get help. A 31-28 loss at Dallas on Thursday dropped the Chiefs to 6-6. They’ve already lost to the three 7-4 teams currently sitting in the AFC wild-card spots — Chargers, Jaguars, Bills — and also trail the Texans and Steelers, who are both 6-5.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Eagles coach Nick Sirianni says he's sticking with embattled offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo. Philadelphia fans booed and chanted for Patullo to be fired throughout Friday's 24-15 loss to the Chicago Bears. Sirianni says the Eagles' problems on offense can't all be blamed on Patullo's play-calling. The coach says “it's never about one person.” The Eagles ran just 17 plays and had two first downs in the first half against the Bears. They finished with 317 total yards to 425 for Chicago. Even the reliable tush push didn't work, with Jalen Hurts losing a fumble on the once-unstoppable play.
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd has returned to the hospital after being released following a shooting in midtown Manhattan on November 16. Boyd shared on Instagram that health issues required his return to the hospital. Jets coach Aaron Glenn confirmed Friday that Boyd had been readmitted. Boyd was shot in the abdomen and the shooter fled the scene. New York police have released surveillance images of a suspect. Boyd, who hasn't played this season because of a shoulder injury, signed with the Jets in March.
