The Great Bend City Council began official business of 2023 Tuesday
night by administering the oath of office to elected officials. Each year, four
of the eight councilmember positions are up for election, one from each of the
four wards.
City Clerk Shawna Schafer guided the councilmembers through the oath at the
beginning of the meeting.
No new faces were added to the council this year. All four incumbents won
uncontested races this past November in the General Election. Lindsey
Krom-Craven, Kevyn Soupiset, Davis Jimenez and Brock McPherson will begin new,
two-year terms.
Councilmember Jolene Biggs was voted as the council president. Biggs will lead
the council in the absence of the mayor.
