Great Bend’s boys of summer are back as the Great Bend Bat Cats begin another season playing baseball. The summer collegiate team is coming off their highest finish ever at the NBC World Series last year with a 5th-place finish.
Great Bend native Roger Ward is back as the manager and excited to get the
season underway Wednesday, June 1.
"We have around 30 guys on the roster," said Ward. "We have a bunch of familiar faces coming back. We'll give these guys an opportunity to spend their summer in Great Bend, play the game of baseball and chase their dreams."
2022 marks the sixth year of the Bat Cats organization.
Due to ongoing improvements and projects at Al Burns Field, the first five home
games are scheduled to be played at the Great Bend Sports Complex or Barton
Community College.
Wednesday's season opener against McPherson begins at 7 p.m. at the Sports
Complex.
