
Barton Men
Theo Leveque of the Barton Community College men's cross country team captured the McPherson College's Carol Swenson Invitational on Friday.
Placing 8th two weeks ago in his collegiate debut, the freshman not only beat fifty-eight other Swenson Invite competitors in the 5k race by twenty-one seconds, but clocked a 15:47.75 time in bettering any previous bests in program history.
Brandon Nguyen led the remaining three freshman runners with a 17:55.19 time in placing 13th.
Thirty seconds separated the final remaining pair, Bryant Galvez posting a 19:01.42 time for 30th as Jarron King would later cross in 36th at 19:31.16.
Barton's next meet comes September 30 as the Cougars head to Fayetteville, Arkansas, competing at the Chili Pepper Festival.
Barton Women
The Barton Community College women's cross country team competed in its second meet of the season on Friday participating in the McPherson College's Carol Swenson Invitational.
Koe Schultz led the four Cougars in the 5k run with a 14th place finish at 22:59.35. sophomore Karina Herrera cracked the top-20 of the forty-two competitor field with a 17th place 23:35.50 time.
Abigail Behring clocked a 24:17.15 for 23rd while Karina Estrada crossed in 37th at 28:05.22.
The Cougars have three weeks of preparation for its next meet in Fayetteville, Arkansas, competing at the Chili Pepper Festival on September 30.
