If you want to try your hand, or your feet, at ice skating this holiday
season, the City of Great Bend once again has your opportunity. The downtown
ice skating rink is available again, just south of the Barton County
Courthouse.
Great Bend Community Coordinator Christina Hayes said the skate rink is
available any time, but there are specific hours if you want to borrow the free
skates.
"You just need to go up to the trailer and tell them your skate size," said Hayes. "The rink is not made of real ice, so any ice skates will work on it. You can take your own skates and skate on it whenever; however, if you want to borrow skates for free you'll have to go during open hours."
Free skating in Great Bend will available through Dec. 30.
Skate rentals will be available from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Thursday and Fridays,
and from 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sundays.
