Ellinwood’s After Harvest Festival is just that – the celebration of another Kansas wheat harvest. But it’s also a chance to win. Each year, the Ellinwood Fire Department hosts its Santa Fe Duck Run at the Ellinwood City Pool. For a $5 donation, with proceeds going toward the purchase of rescue equipment, players can support a duck and enter the race to win big prizes.
The top prizes this year include a Traeger grill donated by INA Alert, a 65-inch flat-screen television donated by H&B Communications, and a 52-quart RTIC cooler donated by KanEquip.

There are many other cash prizes, including four $300 donations from Scott’s Welding Service, S&S Auto & Offroad, Hi-La Engine and Pump, and Bartlett Grain. Joe’s Repair split its $300 donation into two $150 cash prizes. Scott’s Welding is offering another $200 cash prize, and Barton County Feeders has donated two $200 gift certificates. There are a total of 14 $100 cash prizes.
There are numerous $50 cash prizes, and P & S Security has donated two $100 gift certificates. American Plains Co-op has donated two $50 fuel cards. Other unique items include a Milwaukee Radio from Sutherlands, a Yeti cooler with beef from Hammeke Cattle, a Blackstone griddle from Uptime Service, and a Loco turkey fryer from Eldridge Fencing.
The ducks will be dropped into the Ellinwood City Pool at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, then nudged along by volunteer firefighters and lifeguards. Contact the Ellinwood Fire Department to support a duck.
