Great Bend gears up to host another state baseball tournament

Great Bend will be hosting the 2022 KSHSAA 2A-1A State Baseball Tournament at the Great Bend Sports Complex on May 26-27.

“Great Bend is excited to host the 2A-1A State Baseball tournament this year and we welcome baseball fans from across the state to Great Bend,” noted Diann Henderson, Executive Director for Great Bend Recreation Commission.

This state tournament is hosted by the Great Bend Recreation Commission, City of Great Bend and USD 428.

“The City of Great Bend is so proud to be the repeat host for KSHSAA 2-1A Baseball Championship," said Christina Hayes, Great Bend CVB Director. "We just love the partnership with the GB Rec because with their help we are truly putting our best foot forward for these teams and state officials!”

The high school state contenders are traveling from Pittsburg-St. Mary’s, Elkhart, Little River, Valley Falls, Eskridge-Mission Valley, Whitewater-Remington, Colony-Crest, and Howard-West Elk High Schools.

Games are slated to start at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Great Bend Sports Complex.

KSHSAA Admission to the 2A-1A State Baseball Tournament is $9 for adults and $6 for students K-12. Spectators may buy tickets online through Go Fan https://gofan.co/app/school/KSHSAA.

"We encourage local baseball fans to come out and watch KSHSAA State Baseball games at the Sports Complex,” added Hayes.
