GREAT BEND - Cheri Rae Walter, 71, passed away August 31, 2020, at the University of Kansas Health System – Great Bend Campus. She was born on November 8, 1948, at Wichita to Joseph & Helen (Helbert) Greenleaf. She married Doug Walter on June 25, 1981, at Great Bend. He survives.
Coming from Wichita in 1964, Cheri was a Great Bend resident. She retired from McPherson and McVey Law Office as a debt collector. She enjoyed cross stitching and stained glass work. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include, her husband, Doug Walter of the home; three daughters, Tami Johns, and Melissa Crawford and husband James, all of Great Bend, and Pamela Cooper and husband Patrick of Wichita; and five beloved grandchildren, Gavin Crawford, Kamryn Johns, Khloe Johns, William Dixon, and Seth Choyce.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life Service will be at the home of Doug and Cheri, at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 5, 2020, 3315 18th St., Great Bend, Kan. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
