From the American Legion in Great Bend
Make plans to join us at Post 180, 1011 Kansas Ave., on April 25 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. for the 3rd Annual American Legion Family Day.
Bring the kids to get their faces painted, get a balloon animal, or play some cornhole. They can also check out a big rig, a fire truck, a real Army halftrack, and other big equipment.
The Legion will have a complimentary lunch, and the kids can test their knowledge on American History and US Flag Etiquette, too.
Of course, we'll have information on the American Legion Family, college scholarships, the USA 250 celebration, the American Legion's Be The One mission and much more.
Set on the fourth Saturday of April each year, American Legion Family Day is a nationwide opportunity for families across the country to visit their local American Legion Post and learn about all that the Legion Family does for Veterans, their families and our communities.
The community is invited to celebrate American Legion Family Day. The annual event allows the Legion Family — The American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, Sons of The American Legion, and American Legion Riders — to recognize and celebrate their accomplishments along with members of the community.
Admission to American Legion Family Day is free.
American Legion Family Day also provides the opportunity for the Legion Family to share the “Be The One” initiative to reduce the rate of veteran suicide. Details can be found at betheone.org.
