The Barton Community College women's golf team continued its impressive fall season Tuesday, claiming the top two individual spots at the two-day Braves Invitational hosted by Ottawa University held at Eagle Bend Golf Course in Lawrence.
Competing as individuals rather than for a team score, the Cougars made their presence felt atop the 41-player leaderboard as Panalee Prachavittayagon captured her third tournament championship of the fall, edging teammate Alexandria Hunt by a single stroke.
The result marked the second time this season the Barton duo has occupied the top two positions, having previously accomplished the feat at the Central Kansas Classic.
Prachavittayagon opened Monday's competition with a 7-over 79 before shaving three strokes off her score in Tuesday's final round, carding a 4-over 76 to secure medalist honors at 11-over 155.
Hunt nearly matched her teammate stroke for stroke, following an opening-round 80 with a 4-over 76 of her own to finish runner-up at 12-over 156. The second-round improvement vaulted Hunt past Dodge City's Lily Ascott, who finished third at 13-over 157.
Zarmina Khan completed Barton's strong individual showing with a share of 10th place, carding matching rounds of 86 to finish at 28-over 172. The result gave the Cougars three finishers among the tournament's top 10.
The tournament concludes Barton's fall schedule, highlighted by Prachavittayagon's three individual championships and a pair of 1-2 finishes alongside Hunt. The Cougars will return to competition during the spring semester, with their schedule yet to be announced.
