Barton County Youth Crew was recognized with the Youth Award at the recent 69th annual Hoisington Chamber of Commerce Banquet where Branson Holinde, Mya Brewer and Tyler Morton accepted the honor.
The Chamber selected Youth Crew for the award because the group:
· Serves as a safe place for young people to amplify their voices;
· Mobilizes local projects from the bottom-up rather than the top-down;
· Empowers their generation to take a seat at the decision-making table;
· Reflects their values through their work; and
· Ensures Barton County youth are not just spectators of community growth - they are the architects of it.
“Youth Crew is grateful to the Hoisington Chamber for their recognition of our community efforts,” said Tyler Morton, prevention advocate at Juvenile Services. “Hoisington has supplied some of our favorite moments over the years, such as cleaning up Bicentennial Park, appearing before the city council and hosting the first-ever state prevention conference for youth at the high school.
“We also appreciate the Hoisington Activity Center and Hoisington Library for providing space for our monthly meetings. Youth Crew members continue to show up for their peers and represent their community. We are so proud of all of them.”
