The temperature high is set in the mid-90s for Saturday’s forecast, so a number of water-themed activities might sound pretty good for this year’s Party in the Park in Great Bend.
The outdoor festival at Veterans Memorial Park
begins at 9 a.m. with the mud volleyball tournament and pop-up-adventure
playground. The wet/dry parade begins at 10 a.m. and Great Bend Community
Coordinator Christina Hayes said the kids fun zone will even include water this
year.
"The Optimist Kids Fun Zone used to be on the north side of Vets Park, it's on the south side by the playground this year," said Hayes. "This is a wet fun zone. Bring wet clothes and dry clothes for your kids to change into. There will be water features."
The Anything That Floats Race will start at 11:15 a.m. followed by a new event
this year, the money pit.
"First Kansas Bank is going to come hide coins in the old sand volleyball pits," said Hayes. "Kids will have so many minutes to find so many coins."
