As the cost of goods and services remains high, Kiwanis of Great Bend wants to make sure worries about those costs does not interfere with a little Halloween fun. Kiwanis member Barb Esfeld said the annual Halloween Costume Drive will again be held at the Great Bend Public Library on Saturday, Oct. 12.
"We're going to do this on the lawn, weather permitting," she said. "If not, it'll be inside. It will be Oct. 12 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. There's no cost. Kiddos and families can just come and look around and see if the kids can find a costume they'd like to have."
Gently used or new costumes may be donated to the drive throughout the year at the library. As Halloween approaches, Kiwanis members clean the used costumes and get them ready for distribution. There are typically hundreds of free costumes for families to pick from.
"We just enjoy seeing the kids be able to pick something out that makes them happy and get to have fun at Halloween without having to spend a fortune on a costume," Esfeld said.
Costumes will be laid out by size so residents can easily find a costume that suits their needs.
