The Barton Community College softball team split its doubleheader Saturday hosting Colby Community College, dropping the opener 6-3 before capping the day with a 16-3 five inning victory.
The Cougars had opportunities in the opener, stranding thirteen baserunners on nine hits but the opportunistic Trojans took advantage of four Barton errors and plated four of their runs on a pair of home runs for the victory.
Barton put at least three across the dish in each of their four innings of at-bats, stranding just three in an eleven hit performance for the revenge game shortened win.
Barton moves to 6-2 in conference play and 12-6 on the season while Colby stands at 3-5 in league and 12-10 overall.
Next up is a Wednesday 2:00 p.m. doubleheader at No. 6 Butler before heading to No. 5 Odessa College on Saturday. The Cougars will then embark on a consecutive home contests, Monday versus Hutchinson followed by Dodge City on Wednesday.
