The city of Great Bend will continue fogging mosquitoes twice a week until Oct. 9, announced by the streets department on Monday. Spraying will occur between the hours of 8 p.m. and 12 a.m. on Mondays and Thursdays with the scheduling running Sept. 29, Oct. 2, Oct. 6 and Oct. 9.
The city advises citizens to wait 30 minutes to an hour to go outside after fogging takes place in their area to reduce the risk of inhaling the chemicals. Two vehicles containing different chemicals are used to spray mosquitoes with one running on the east side and the other on the west side of town that will alternate each session. If it were to rain or the grass is too damp, the city will be unable to fog on those dates.
The city of Great Bend will continue to monitor mosquito activity and address if further spraying dates need to be added. For questions regarding mosquito fogging, please contact Street Supervisor Tony Bronson at [email protected] or call the streets department at 620-793-4150.
