Barton wrestling falls in pair of Jayhawk Conference duals

The Barton Community College wrestling team stepped back into Jayhawk Conference action Wednesday evening in Parsons, Kansas, dropping a pair of duals against No. 17 Fort Hays Tech Northwest and host Labette Community College inside the Zetmeir Athletic Complex.

Barton began the afternoon against No. 17 Fort Hays Tech Northwest, falling 41-15. The Cougars were forced to leave 165 and 197 pounds open, spotting the Tigers 12 team points. Barton earned a trio of victories in the dual, highlighted by Shane Todd's 1:11 fall at 133 pounds, a 9-8 decision by Brennen Pfannenstiel at 149, and an open-weight win at 184 pounds by S'Ron Hill.

In the second dual of the night, the Cougars faced host Labette, dropping a 52-5 decision. Once again open at 165 and 197 pounds, Barton's lone victory came from Hill, who delivered a 20-3 technical fall at 184 pounds.

The results leave the Cougars 0-3 in conference play and 2-15 overall.

Barton will continue conference action Thursday, January 29, traveling to Colby to face Cloud County Community College and Colby Community College beginning at 4:00 p.m.
