Ellinwood's 51st After Harvest Festival is now just over a month away. Preregistration is requested for several of the activities taking place over the busy weekend. AHF Chairperson Nancy Baird said returning the 3-on-3 basketball tournament to the bricks last year was a big hit, and the tournament will again be held in downtown Ellinwood on Saturday, July 20.
"This year, we have added some age categories," Baird said. "We have a middle school age group just to maybe have more teams involved, but then also to give that middle school age group more activities during After Harvest Fest. We have a high school group, and an 18 and older."
Troy Moore and Stephen Richter with the Ellinwood Rec will again run the basketball tournament. Preregistration to ensure a tank top is June 20. The cost is $15 per player, and teams must have 3-5 players registered. Preregistration will also help organizers create a bracket ahead of play.
Also taking place that Saturday with an 8 a.m. start time is the softball tournament at the south Main ball fields.
"It's a co-ed softball tournament with a maximum of 12 teams and a minimum of six," said Baird. Amber Zink will be running that tournament again this year. The cost of a team is $250, and the deadline to register for that is July 12."
To register for the basketball tournament, call the Ellinwood Chamber at (620) 566-7353. To register for the softball tournament, call Zink at (620) 566-7279.
