Evelyn Catherine Klusener, 85, passed away June 17, 2023, at Sangre De Cristo Hospice House, Pueblo, Colo. She was born Jan. 19, 1938, in Rocky Ford, Colo., to Seledanio and Marcela (Blea) Gomez. Evelyn married Leonard Klusener July 2, 1957, in Lyons. He passed away Feb. 19, 2008.
A current resident of La Junta, Colo., Evelyn had been a longtime resident of Great Bend, and had faithfully served many years as a translator and data entry specialist for the Barton County Health Department and a cook for USD 428 and Barton Community College. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose and the Altar Society, and in her spare time, enjoyed camping, arts and crafts.
Survivors include one son, Edward Klusener (Mary) of La Junta, Colo.; five daughters, Virginia Roybal Mascarenas (Thomas) of La Junta, Colo., Katrina Evers (Robert) of Great Bend, Mary McVey (Patrick) of Liberty Hill, Texas, Donna (Stueve) Zink (Andrew) of Turon, and Brenda McNary (Steve) of Smith Center; one brother, Victor Gomez of La Junta, Colo.; three sisters, Jenny Ramirez of La Junta, Colo., Alicia Acosta of Denver, Colo., and Arcilia Salinas of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and 20 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband Leonard Klusener, parents Seledanio and Marcela (Blea) Gomez, brothers Mike Gomez and David Gomez, and granddaughter, TaCoa Stueve.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2023, at Bryant Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Great Bend Cemetery, Great Bend. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 22, at Bryant Funeral Home, with the family receiving guests from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials may be given to Prince of Peace Parish or American Cancer Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
