The Barton County Register of Deeds Office is rolling out its Record Notification System. Work on the system began approximately three months ago, and Register of Deeds Glennda French said there are two ways for landowners in the county to sign up.
"It provides the ability for you to receive messages via email whenever a document has been recorded using your name," she said. "We do have a link on bartoncounty.org under the Register of Deeds tab for you to join. If you do not have a computer, we do have forms here in the office."
Landowners with a valid email address can fill out the online application or form to be notified when documents are filed using their name. French said the service adds another layer of security.
"Just so you know that somebody has recorded a deed or any other document using your name," she said. "There are times when people get a document recorded that's not supposed to be."
The Register of Deeds Office is scheduled to begin its move back to the courthouse on Monday, May 13 with the remainder moved on Wednesday. The deeds office is located on the second floor. CLICK HERE to access the form.
