The Barton County Attorney's Office has filed additional charges in the murder case of 14-year-old Rubi Perez. In April, a 14-year-old juvenile was charged with murder in the first degree after Perez's body was found near Veterans Memorial Park on April 8. Last week, additional charges of aggravated criminal sodomy and criminal sodomy with a child younger than 16 were filed.
The juvenile, who will not be named at this time due to his age, is scheduled for a Motion to Prosecute as an adult on Oct. 14. The motion was originally to be heard on Aug. 26 and 27 before it was continued.
Perez was reported missing just after 8:30 p.m. on the evening of April 7. The following morning, her body was found behind a dirt pile in the 4700 block of 17th St. Terrace, just south of the railroad tracks in Veterans Memorial Park.
