Cougar bowling wraps up in-state slate at Jayhawk Collegiate Challenge

The Barton Community College bowling teams continued the in-state competition schedule over the weekend, competing in the two-day Jayhawk Collegiate Challenge.

Saturday's action featured five traditional individual games before concluding Sunday with 16 Baker rounds, as the women competed at West Ridge Lanes in Topeka and the men bowling at Royal Crest Lanes in Larence.

The Cougar women recorded a ninth-place finish among 13 varsity programs, totaling 6,335 pins, while the Barton men placed 14th out of 17 varsity teams with a combined 7,539 pins.

Women's Recap: Anne Timmermeyer led Barton with a five-game 854 series, averaging 170.8 to finish 22nd overall, highlighted by the team's top single game 209 in her third round.

Rylee Lambeth followed in 39th with a 771 total (154.2 avg), including a 203 opener, while Alexis Wareman placed 41st with a 753 series.

Tailynn Level added a four-game 660 for 53rd, while Rose Timmermeyer (445), Ellie Weeks (266), and Victoria Martinez (121) contributed throughout the lineup.

Central Missouri University bested the 13-team field with 7,717 pins, followed by Ottawa University (7,133) and Lindenwood (7,072) rounding out the top three. Holly Bridges of Ottawa claimed individual honors with a 977 series (195.4 avg) in the 103-bowler field.

Men's Recap: Landyn Ziegenhirt led the Cougar men with a 952 series, to place 55th overall. The freshman carded a pair of 200-plus games with scores of 206 and 209 to help average 190.4 per game.

Dayden Cunningham followed in 67th with a five-game 922 series, while Simon Clark finished 73rd with a 906 total. Jacob Clark and Campbell Peterson added four-game scores of 765 and 674, respectively, while Jett Cosby rounded out the varsity lineup, posting the team's highest individual game of the weekend a 238 in the first of his two appearances.

Barton also fielded a junior varsity squad, placing 11th among 19 teams, led by Colton Swift's 924 for 66th place.

Wichita State University topped the 17 team field with 8,847 pins, edging cross-town rival Newman University's 8,460, and Lindenwood University's 8,262 for the team title. Carter Street of Wichita State earned individual honors with a 1,168 series in the 224 competitor field.

The Cougars will hit the midway point of its five straight tournament stretch this Saturday and Sunday at the Bronco Open, held at Pastime Lanes in Hastings, Nebraska.
