On Monday, Dec. 5 at approximately 4:20 p.m., an officer from the Great Bend Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a registration violation.

The officer observed the tag displayed on the vehicle to return to a different vehicle.

The officer made contact with the driver of the vehicle, who was recognized by the officer to be Dennis Streiner, age 45.

The officer knew Streiner to be wanted on multiple warrants from multiple agencies. The officer ordered Streiner to exit the vehicle. Streiner refused, and fled northbound on 10 Avenue. A short pursuit was initiated, before Streiner fled from the vehicle in the area of Northwest 70 Avenue and Northwest 70 Road.

Deputies from the Barton County Sheriff's Office responded as well, and a perimeter was set up.

Streiner was located a short time later hiding in a field. Streiner was arrested and transported to the Barton County Jail where he was booked in lieu of no bond on a felony probation violation warrant out of Rush County, five warrants for failure to appear through the City of Great Bend and additional charges of felony flee and elude and felony interference with law enforcement.
