Saki Takaki's second half strike propelled the Barton Community College women's soccer team to a 1-0 road victory Tuesday evening over the Tabor College junior varsity squad at Joel H. Wiens Stadium in Hillsboro.

The result moves Barton to 8-6-1 overall, while the Bluejays JV squad drops to 0-1-0 on the season. The Cougars face a quick turnaround returning to conference play Wednesday with a 3:00 p.m. kickoff against Dodge City Community College at Cavanaugh Field.

After a scoreless opening half, Takaki broke the deadlock with 23:55 remaining, blasting home a setup from Cydnee Adams for her second goal of the campaign and Adams' first collegiate assist.

Barton's defensive unit stood firm throughout, limiting the Bluejays without a shot attempt. Leonie Kerle handled the opening 79 minutes in goal before Kimberly Escobedo closed the final 16 minutes between the posts to complete the combined shutout and secure the Cougars second clean sheet of the season.
