Returning to the confines of the Cougar Soccer Complex Saturday afternoon, the Barton Community College women's soccer team picked up a much needed win behind a pair of first half goals in a 2-1 victory over Garden City Community College.
The victory moves the Cougars to 2-3-2 in league play and 4-3-2 overall while the Broncbusters fall to 0-6-1 in the Jayhawk and 3-6-1 on the season.
Barton will complete the first path through the Jayhawk Conference on Wednesday afternoon hosting Seward County Community College in a 3:00 p.m. kickoff.
Just 10:28 into the contest, Beatriz Baldi put the Cougars in front receiving Ines Mahiaoui's through ball converting on the 1v1 attempt striking a far post missile pass the Garden City netkeeper Leydaly Enriquez for her fifth of the season.
Leading scorer Katie Potter rattled the twine for the seventh time this season just 22:27 ensuing providing the eventual game winner just inside far post after getting behind the Broncbusters' backline on Orlane Guillou's sent in ball.
Garden City settled the scoring just 1:49 before the halftime horn as Jessica Newton's corner kick found the rising header from Emma Casenave placing it just under the crossbar.
Mio Tanaka denied three of the four shots faced on frame. improving to 4-2-2 in net for the Cougars.
