A Barton County employee avoided serious injury after rolling a county vehicle Monday morning in the northeast part of the county. Nineteen-year-old Jonathan Pasos of Great Bend overcorrected in the county's 2016 Peterbilt dump truck. County Administrator Matt Patzner said county operations should not be interrupted, and work now begins to replace the truck.
"It was three miles east of Susank," Patzner said. "Basically, the back tires went off the road, the driver overcorrected, it rolled a couple of times, went into the north ditch, then landed on the tires. The vehicle is totaled. There were no major injuries or anything like that."
The Barton County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the accident at 10:23 a.m. Monday morning. Investigation revealed that Pasos was traveling 60-65 miles per hour on Northeast 90 Road. Upon crossing Northeast 40 Avenue, the passenger-side wheels left the pavement. Pasos overcorrected and rolled into the north ditch.
Pasos was transported by Claflin EMS to Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington.
