Great Bend Community Coordinator Christina Hayes thanked the Great Bend City Council Monday night for their continued support of June Jaunt. The outdoor festival was over three weeks ago, and Hayes and her staff are able to review what went well and what improvements are needed.

The three-day festival, which falls on the first weekend of June each year, is filled with live music, games, food vendors and entertainment in downtown Great Bend. Hayes told the council she is looking at changes for future June Jaunts.

"What's unique about Party in the Park and June Jaunt is that it's an opportunity for us to give a festival to the community without asking the businesses to strongly support it," said Hayes. "That kind of what city council wanted 14 years ago."

The Great Bend Convention and Visitors Bureau Board will discuss June Jaunt changes and then the council will receive a questionnaire on proposed improvements.

With the help of Great Bend Economic Development, a parade down Main Street was added to this year’s June Jaunt, which marked the 13th year of the festival.
