Pavement surface improvements to a section of K-96 Highway in Great Bend
will take place next spring.
The Great Bend City Council approved a $573,578 bid Tuesday night for a mill
and overlay of K-96, between 10th Street and 24th Street.
Assistant City Engineer Hitha Kadiyala told the council the
majority of the project is funded by the state through the City Connecting Link
Improvement Program (CCLIP).
"Venture Corporation was the only bid we received for $573,578," said Kadiyala. "This grant project is 90% state funded and 10% city funded."
The city’s 10% portion of the project came out to $57,357.80. Funding will come
from the Kansas Department of Transportation Grants Fund which if funded by the
federal fund exchange program with the state.
