Paul Jerome “P.J.” Axman, 64, passed away June 21, 2022, at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita. He was born on April 22, 1958, at Great Bend, to Jerome "Jack" & Betty Mae (Smolik) Axman. He married Brenda Frydendall on June 5, 1981, at Olmitz.
A lifetime Barton county resident, Paul was a general contractor, owning and operating Axman Builders for nearly 38 years. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Hoisington, and devoted member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Assembly and Knights of Columbus Council #2100, Olmitz. Never having idle hands, it was his lifelong passion spending time restoring his 1931 Model A with his nephew, Chad Axman. He especially loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include, his wife, Brenda Axman of the home; his son, Douglas Axman and wife Jenn and beloved granddaughter, Adalynn Axman, all of Hoisington; one brother, Joe; three sisters, Lillian, Barbara and Rita; mother-in-law, JoAnn Frydendall; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Michael; a sister, Judy; brother-in-law, Tom; and father-in-law, Garth Frydendall.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday, June 27, 2022, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, 415 N. Main in Hoisington. Vigil service and Knights of Columbus Rosary will be 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 27, at St. Ann Catholic Church, Olmitz. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 28, at St. Ann Catholic Church, with Father Anselm Eke and Father Jacob Schneider concelebrating. Interment will be in St. Ann Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been designated to the Paul Jerome Axman Expense Fund, Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Wichita, or Adalynn's Education Fund, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, PO Box 146, Hoisington, KS 67544.
