K-State trailed 42-40 at halftime, but Carter scored seven points and Arthur Kaluma made a pair of 3s during a 17-5 run to open the second half and the Wildcats led the rest of the way. RaeQuan Battle scored 21 points to lead West Virginia, but he was scoreless in the final 18 minutes. Kansas State (12-3, 2-0 Big 12) snapped a four-game losing streak against West Virginia in Morgantown. West Virginia (5-10, 0-2) has lost three straight.

AMES, Iowa (AP) — Tamin Lipsey scored 14 points, freshman Milan Momcilovic made a baseline jumper with 30.2 seconds left and Iowa State beat No. 2 Houston 57-53 to knock off the nation’s final unbeaten team. Iowa State secured its seventh win against a top-10 opponent in the last two seasons. That's the most in Division I. Houston had a 12-game road winning streak snapped with the loss Tuesday night. Emanuel Sharp scored 20 points, reaching the mark for the fourth time this season, for Houston. Jamal Shead added 14 points, surpassing 1,000 for his career.

WACO, Texas (AP) — Jalen Bridges scored 17 of his 25 points after halftime as 14th-ranked Baylor rallied from a nine-point deficit to beat No. 18 BYU 81-72. Ja’Kobe Walter added 16 points for the 13-2 Bears and Langston Love had 15. Baylor won its first Big 12 home game in the new Foster Pavilion, a week after christening the building with a victory over Cornell. Spencer Johnson and Trevin Knell each had 15 points for 12-3 BYU, a Big 12 newcomer this season.

CINCINNATI (AP) — Dylan Disu scored a career-high 33 points and Max Abmas hit a go-ahead jumper with eight seconds remaining to help No. 25 Texas beat Cincinnati 74-73. Simas Lukosius scored 19 points and Viktor Lakhin had 17 points for the Bearcats, who were bidding to start 2-0 in their inaugural Big 12 season after a 71-60 upset win at No. 12 BYU. Tuesday night was the Bearcats and Longhorns first meeting in the regular season. The Bearcats won two prior NCAA Tournament matchups in 1963 and 2012.

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — Pop Isaacs scored 24 points to lead five in double figures and Texas Tech rolled to a 90-73 victory over Oklahoma State for its eighth straight win. NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans have fired coach Mike Vrabel after six seasons with the franchise having won only six of the past 24 games. Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk said in a statement that she told Vrabel of her decision Tuesday morning. She said it was a decision “as difficult as any I’ve made.” The announcement came a day after the Titans cleaned out their lockers with Vrabel not speaking to reporters. It was the first time in the franchise’s 27 seasons in Tennessee the head coach did not talk with reporters since the team moved to the state from Texas. Vrabel was hired in January 2018 and went 56-48 including playoffs.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Draymond Green is vowing a commitment to playing without the “antics” that have plagued him on the court throughout his career, working over the past month on ways to control his emotions and not let hostility take over. Through therapy, Green says he has learned techniques to better deal with tense moments during games when he has previously lost his cool, embracing the idea of improving himself after being disciplined by the NBA with an indefinite suspension last month. Green insists he has “cost my team enough” and feels a sense of urgency to get back on the court and help the Warriors.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California lawmakers are debating whether to ban tackle football for children under 12. The bill will have its first public hearing Wednesday before a legislative committee. The bill is still a long way from becoming law. It must clear the state Assembly by the end of January to have a chance at becoming law this year. Concussion Legacy Foundation CEO Chris Nowinski says children who don't understand the risk should be protected from harm. Steve Famiano, of the Save Youth Football California coalition, says youth football leagues need more time to implement a 2021 law that put safeguards in place.
