The Kansas Department of Transportation plans to begin a bridge replacement project on the box bridge beneath U.S. 281 over Blood Creek drainage just east of the west junction with K-4 in Barton County on or around Thursday, June 25, conditions permitting.
Work will occur Monday through Saturday during daylight hours.
Reece Construction Company, Inc., of Salina, is the prime contractor on the nearly $950,000 project, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
Traffic signals will help guide a single lane of traffic through the construction zone. Delays of up to 15 minutes can be expected.
KDOT urges motorists to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones. For current road conditions, visit kandrive.gov or call 511. For updates on construction projects in South Central Kansas, visit ksdot.gov/southcentralnews.
