Joel Peter Daubert, 86, of rural Otis, Kansas, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024, at University of Kansas Health Systems – Great Bend Campus, Great Bend, Kansas.
Joel was born April 2, 1938, on the family farm to Peter P. & Elizabeth (Hemel) Daubert. He was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas.
Joel graduated from Otis Senior High School, Otis, Kansas, in 1955.
Joel served our nation in the Army reserves during a peace time following the Korean War.
He married Wilma Jean Waggaman January 4, 1992. She passed away on August 27, 1993.
A man of many trades, Joel was a farmer above everything else. He also was a construction worker, worked at Hoisington Brick & Tile, Hoisington, Kansas, and hauled grain for local Co-op’s as well as being an independent hauler. He was instrumental in the organization of Rural Water District #3, and served on the original board. He was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Otis, Kansas, where he was baptized and then confirmed in 1951. He served many years on the church council. Joel also belonged to the Otis Lions Club, Otis, Kansas.
Joel is survived by his brother, Ben (Judy) Daubert; nephews, Mark (Charlotte) Daubert, and Marlin Daubert; and many cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kansas.
Church visitation will be Friday, June 7, 2024, from 9:00 A.M. to 9:50 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Otis, Kansas.
Funeral service will be Friday, June 7, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Otis, Kansas, with Stan Ewy, S. A. M., officiating. Interment will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Otis, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorials to the Otis Lions Club, Otis, Kansas.
