James 'Jimmy' Holopirek, age 47

James S. “Jimmy” Holopirek, 47, Timken, Kansas, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2023, at his home.

Jimmy was born on Christmas Day, 1975, in Great Bend, Kansas, the son of Donald D. “Donnie” and Frances (Herrman) Holopirek. He was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas. A 1994 graduate of Otis-Bison High School, Otis, Kansas, he was a farmer and rancher.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Timken, Kansas, Knights of Columbus Council 2100, Olmitz, Kansas, the Western Fraternal Lodge, Timken, Kansas, and the Kansas Livestock Association, Topeka, Kansas. Through the years, he served on the boards of Banner Township, Mid-State Farmers Co-op, Rush Center, Kansas, and the Fireman’s Relief Association, Timken, Kansas. He assisted with staking duties for the Bohemian National Cemetery, Timken, Kansas. One of Jimmy’s greatest passions was the Timken Fire Department, Timken, Kansas, where he was a volunteer firefighter, and served as Fire Chief for many, many years.

Survivors include: his brother, Jay D. Holopirek, and wife, Heidi, La Crosse, Kansas; his sister, Julie A. Wagner, and husband, Terry, Rush Center, Kansas; his nephews and nieces, Matthew Wagner, and wife, Dekota, Marissa Wagner, Garrett Holopirek, Paige Holopirek, and Cade Holopirek; and his great nephew, Maverick Wagner, along with a host of extended family, friends and wonderful neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 24, 2023, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kansas, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A vigil service and rosary will be at 7:00 P.M.

Church visitation will be Monday, September 25, 2023, from 9:30 A.M. to 10:20 A.M. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Timken, Kansas.

Funeral service will be Monday, September 25, 2023, at 10:30 A.M. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Timken, Kansas, with Father Terrance Klein, and Father Stephen Dabanka officiating. Interment will be in the Bohemian National Cemetery, Timken, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorials to the Timken Fire Department, Timken, Kansas, or the Bohemian National Cemetery, Timken, Kansas.
