
Mina Kaneko of the now 12th ranked Barton Community College volleyball team has been selected as the week six KJCCC and NJCAA Division I Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week.
Kaneko anchored the Cougar backline with 64 digs across 12 sets, averaging 5.33 per set while adding 12 assists and a service ace in three road matches. Opening the week with 14 digs in a sweep at Pratt, the sophomore libero posted 26 digs in a five-set battle at 11th ranked Colby before concluding the week by adding 24 digs in a four-set win at Garden City.
The honor is Kaneko's fourth of the season, earning the distinction in weeks 1, 2, and 4 while giving the team its eighth total, joined by Ori Briger (Week 2), Aubrey Olander and Indigo Pruitt (Week 3),and Stasa Stamenkovic (Week 4).
Now 5-1 in conference play and 16-4 overall, Barton continues its road stretch this evening with a 6:30 p.m. conference tilt at Cloud County Community College (0-6, 5-16) before opening up the home slate Saturday at 6:00 p.m. versus Hutchinson Community College.
